David Bazan Hour
For my final show of the quarter, I'm focusing on the works of David Bazan and Pedro the Lion. Pedro the Lion was formed in Seattle in 1995 by David Bazan, who acts as the main creative force and is backed by varying musicians.
Bazan's work is personal, speaking to struggles with faith, politics, depression, and alcoholism. He has mastered the art of storytelling, making songs that are part metaphor, part allegory, and part existentialism. Early Pedro the Lion was often grouped with Christian rock but has become known with the indie rock sub genre of slowcore. The band dissolved in 2006 as Bazan went solo and was later reformed in 2017.
