today's set features the music of Elliott Smith, starting with his band Heatmiser and then going sequentially through his solo discography.

This episode will be focused on Riot Grrrl, the feminist punk movement. We'll talk about its origins and highlight some of the most popular bands in the movement, some influences, a few current local Riot Grrrl bands, and some other bands associated with the movement.

This week's theme is twee pop! This is a subgenre of indie pop that originates in the UK and Olympia, WA in the 1980s. "Twee" is defined by Merriam-Webster as "affectedly or excessively dainty, delicate, cute, or quaint" and this is seen in twee pop via simple instrumentation and melodies, soft vocals, and lyrics that often revolve around the topic of love. This playlist includes some twee pop classics and some of my personal favorites.
